Evening Schedule Change Beginning This Week

Beginning November 1, our regular evening class schedule will change from Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings to Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Class times will remain the same. Along with this change, our sparring classes will be switched to Tuesday evenings — currently in the same time slots as they’ve been.

Please remember that we’re closed for evening karate classes and yoga tonight 10/31 (Monday night) for Halloween.

  • Monday classes begin at 5:00 PM with our Little Kickers program, 5:35 PM youth to adult and 6:15 PM for advanced
  • Tuesday sparring begins at 5:00 PM for ages 4-10 and 5:30 for 11 year olds and up.
  • Wednesday classes begin at 5:00 PM with our Little Kickers program, 5:35 PM youth to adult and 6:15 PM for advanced.
  • Thursday classes begin at 5:00 PM with our Little Kickers program, 5:35 PM youth to adult and 6:15 for advanced.
  • Friday – NO Classes

Also, many of you have asked about our next weapons class, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be starting that back up in November with an 8-week weapons rotation for Nunchucks. This will be open to students age 7 and older who are at a rank of Gold Belt or higher, and classes will meet on Tuesday evenings at 5:30. When this class starts, sparring for ages 11 and up will change to a 6:05 p.m. start. More information will be coming later this week for dates, cost, and registration, so watch your email and our MPK Families Facebook page if you’re interested!

The studio is closed 10/31 for Halloween.

Used Uniform, Gear Sale

We’ll be holding a used uniform and gear sale beginning Monday, Sept. 26, in the MPK lobby.

This is a great time to pick up an extra uniform at a very low cost and we will have a limited selection of used sparring gear and other apparel and accessories available on a first come, first served basis. We’ll be open for sales when the front desk staff arrives, usually between 4:30 and 4:45, so please stop in and see what’s available.

These items will be at crazy great prices. Get a complete set of sparring gear for $35, retail for $210… Get an MPK TEAM uniform for $10, retail for $59! Student uniforms $5, normally $37! Most of the gear is used but in great condition…

July 4th Announcements

We will be closed for the holiday weekend on July 2 — no kickboxing or open gym that morning. We will also be closed on July 4. We won’t see you for evening classes, but we will see some of you for the 4th of July parade!

4TH OF JULY PARADE SIGN-UP is still open at the front desk. If you are participating in the parade, you will need:

  • Your karate t-shirt, karate uniform pants, and belt
  • Shoes that don’t come off – no flip flops flying into the crowd!
  • A water bottle
  • And, we recommend putting on some sunscreen before you arrive


Please be at DeForest High School by 10:00 am, as the parade begins at 10:30 am. Kids are welcome to march while their parents are in the crowd, just make sure to check in with us before leaving the meeting site!

We don’t have our parade number yet, but we will let you know when we have it. We expect the parade to last for 45 minutes to an hour, and we will end at Christ Lutheran Church on Main Street.

Open Gym Saturday, 4th of July Parade Sign Up

First, we do have open gym this Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30, and we’d love to see you!

Second, we’ve started sign up for the Fourth of July parade. If you’d like to participate in the parade, you can sign up at the front desk. The sign up sheet will be out right up to the Fourth. If you have a wagon you can bring, please note that next to your name on the sign up sheet.

We’ll be practicing our parade routine in class, so no worries about making it to any extra practices. The parade starts at 10:30am, so we ask students and parents to be there by 10 am. We’ll let you know when we find out what our number in the parade order is.

Notes for Memorial Day Weekend

This Saturday the 28th, we will not have open gym. We will be open for kickboxing at 8 am, and Mrs. Taylor will be at the studio for stripe testing appointments.

We will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. We hope you enjoy this Memorial Day Weekend as we honor those men & women who have died defending our freedoms.

Lastly, we’d like to give a warm welcome to Jasmine, who just started at the front desk this past week. Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself!

Our spring merch order period has a little more than one more week to go. You can order directly through our special order site until Midnight on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
