Students about to test their black belt skills

Testing Notes and Important Dates…

Posted on February 20, 2026

We have a few things we wanted to share as reminders. First, there will be no Open Gym on Saturday, 2/21 or Saturday, 2/28. Testing for our advanced students (Blue, Red, and Brown Belts) is 2/21 and the Black Belt test is on 2/28. Everyone is encouraged to come and cheer these students on!

For students who are testing this weekend:

  • Full uniforms are required
  • Bring all of your sparring gear
  • Hydrate well before the test and eat a good breakfast — but not too close to test time
  • The test begins at 10 am — plan to arrive early to get a good warm up and go through your forms before the test starts. Arriving a half hour early is a good goal
  • Junior students, make sure your permission slip is signed and turned in before the test
  • Students testing for the next color belt or Brown Stripe belt, please make sure your test fee is paid before the test — Pay Advanced Belt Test Fee NOTE: There is no Test Fee for students testing for blue and red striped belts

We're looking forward to seeing a great demonstration of skills by all of our testing students over the next two weeks!

Ninja Night Ages 8-12 is coming up on February 28 from 5-8 pm. It will include fun karate games, a pizza party, and a movie. The cost is $35.00, and you can register here: Ninja Night. Students can also bring a non-MPK buddy for just $20.00 - just use the discount code MPKBuddy when registering that child. Learn more about Ninja Night

Our KICK-A-THON fundraiser to benefit Blood Cancer United is in full swing and there's still plenty of time to get involved. Students can buy a board for $3 at the front desk, raise money for the cause over the next couple of weeks, and break their boards at our big Kick-a-Thon Event on MONDAY, MARCH 2 at 5:30 pm (no regular classes that night). This is a great opportunity to help cancer victims and their families and have a great time doing it. For more information and donation links, visit our blog post or check with the front desk — we'd love to see you there.

MPK Summer Camp Registration starts next week. Camp is open to kids ages 7-11, is packed full of fun field trips and activities and is loved by our kids! Current MPK families who want full-time (43 days or more) have the first opportunity to register on Monday, Feb. 23 from 5-8 pm here at the studio. Those wanting part-time and others from the community looking for FT or PT can register on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 5-8 pm. Days fill up quickly, so be sure to come on those days to ensure your registration slot.
