New Dane County Health Order #10

Posted on November 18, 2020

Due to the new Dane County public health order in effect on Wed., November 18, we will be holding classes in an open gym format as opposed to organized group classes. Class times will remain the same for all classes.

The advantage of this format is we will be able to open up space for our members to come in and work on curriculum they want to work on. Instructors will be available for you to ask questions and offer guidance. Family members may join students on the floor to help hold targets or for our Little Kickers, help go over the information on the class card.

Social distancing of six feet will still be necessary. We will also continue to offer our virtual classes at the regular times. If the need to add more virtual space arises we will expand that as well. Please continue to use the MPK App to sign up for the class and class option you will be using. Either virtual online or in-person class.

For our Total Fitness members, we will be offering an open gym format as well. We have pre-designed workouts that you can grab on the way in. For our Yoga members we will be going virtual as there isn’t a good option for open gym yoga.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Make sure to take advantage of it while you can! You can find our shop in the app, just click on the shopping cart icon on the bottom. You can also use this link to access the shop.

Century Direct items typically take 2-4 days to ship, although it may take longer as we get closer to Christmas, so please keep that in mind and plan accordingly…

Sign Up for In-Person or Online

Posted on October 19, 2020

We’ve been seeing a lot of students in our Beginner/Intermediate and Brown Belt classes, which is great! With the bigger attendance numbers, we are now asking that all students sign up ahead of time to attend class, whether in-person or online. Please try to sign up at least a day in advance so we can plan ahead and staff appropriately. We are still following current health guidelines and limited each class to 10 students. If more than 10 students attend, we divide the class into separate groups of no more than 10 students.

Also, we’ve revamped our app’s landing page to make it easier to sign up for classes. The first page you see when you open the app will now be our class schedule, and you can sign up to attend in-person and online classes from there. We’ve moved belt tests to the Shop section.

School (and uniforms) Are Back!

Posted on September 9, 2020

Just a few reminders with the start of the school year and cooler weather…

Now that school is back in session (sort of!) we’re back to full uniforms — that means the uniform top and pants for all students. Students can wear any shirt under their karate uniform.

In the case of inclement weather such as rain, please wait until students from the previous class have exited the studio before sending your own in. We should have everyone out 5 minutes after the end of class, and then we can allow students for the next class into the studio.

Thank you for your support.

Closed on Labor Day

Posted on September 3, 2020

We will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 7. We’ll be back on Tuesday the 8th.

We will be open for Super Saturday this Saturday, Sept. 5 at 9:15 and 10:30. Super Saturday is a great opportunity for our brown belts to take another step closer to testing for black belt.

We hope you all have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Update for Fall

Posted on August 18, 2020

I would like to share with our members what we are planning to do for the start of the school year. We have received many requests to offer a place for virtual learning here at the studio. I have been searching for staff to help with this program. I have a couple of people who can help with some of the days, but unfortunately I have not been able to put together a schedule for a whole week. I am going to continue to search for staff and if we can put together the right team, I will let you all know asap. At this time I am planning on hosting 15 students if we can put together 3 solid staff members. If you know of someone who may be interested, please let us know.

The program would run from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm, for students grades k-6. We would offer karate classes for all students as well. Students would need to pack a snack and a lunch. The cost of the program would be $7 per day. Duration of the program is likely to be 50 days. Members would need to commit to the whole 50 days regardless of what the school district does.

Beyond virtual learning we are also looking at offering a program for the early afternoon to work as an after school time slot. We will continue to offer our evening classes along with zoom classes as these have been very well attended.

For those members who have continued to train, we can’t thank you enough for your support. If you have not been in, we understand, as this can be a very trying time for everyone.

Please let us know if you have an interest in participating in the virtual program if we get it going.
