Thanksgiving Schedule

Posted on November 22, 2017

We have an adjustment to our normal schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday that we want to make sure everyone remembers.

Wednesday 11/22:

  • Little Kicker class from 5-5:30
  • Open Gym from 5:30-6:45 for junior and adult students – make a plan and come in to work individually on your cards
  • Yoga from 7-8:00

We’ll be closed for the holiday Thursday through Sunday and back to our normal class schedule on Monday, 11/27.

Also, just a quick reminder that our next test for those promoting to Gold Stripe through Brown Stripe is coming soon on Saturday, Dec. 16. If you have, or will have, all your classes and still need to earn stripes, be sure to sign up on the board for a Saturday stripe test time, and consider using the open gym time to practice. You will get a class stamp for open gym if you’re here and working hard for at least 45 minutes.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Yoga, Self-Defense, Super Sunday, Ninja Night!

Posted on November 2, 2017

Here are a few updates to our class schedule and a couple of events to note:

  • Yoga classes have started, and there are now three opportunities per week to take this class – Sunday evenings at 4:30pm, Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Saturday mornings at 7am. These are on the same punch card system as our Total Fitness Classes. If you’d like more information, stop at the front desk any time.
  • Adult Self Defense class will move to Monday night at 7pm beginning next week, November 6. This is open to any student age 18 and up and focuses on practical use of martial arts skills for self defense techniques.
  • Super Sunday Black Belt training will be Sunday Evening, November 19 from 5:30 to 7pm for all Brown and Black Belts.
  • Ninja Night is this Friday, November 3rd from 6-9 p.m. We still have a couple of spots open, so sign up quickly if you’re interested. We’ll be playing games, having pizza, and watching the movie, Boss Baby. All kids kindergarten and up are welcome – $20 for the first child and $15 for buddies.

Have a great week!

Important Updates

Posted on October 9, 2017

Here is some information and updates on what’s going on here at MPK.

  • Belt Promotion Test – There will be no regular classes except Total Fitness Training on Saturday, October 21, so we can hold a belt promotion test for those testing for Gold Stripe through Brown Stripe belts. You still have a couple of weeks to meet your class requirements and earn any stripes you need to qualify for the test. For those testing, please arrive by 9:15 to get warmed up for a 9:30 start, and don’t forget your full uniform. Families are welcome to attend and cheer these students on.
  • Super Sunday – We will have a Black Belt training session on Sunday evening, October 22, from 5:30 to 7pm. This is open to all Brown and Black Belts. For those of you who have come to other Super Sundays, please note the new 5:30pm start time. There will be a yoga class running from 4:30 to 5:30, so please come in and go to the red mats to warm up quietly until that class is done.
  • Karate Camp – We will be running an all-day Karate Camp on Thursday, November 9 (no-school day for Deforest/Windsor). Camp is open to all kids in Kindergarten or older. Drop off is 7:30-8 a.m. with an 8:00 start time, and pick up is 4:00 pm. Students should bring a lunch and snack and wear their uniforms and belts – A+ After School kids can change into uniform when they arrive. We’ll have a variety of martial arts activities and games throughout the day. Cost for the camp is $40 for the first student, and $32 each for siblings. Space is limited and students will be enrolled on a first come first served basis – there are 20 spots still open. Sign up at the front desk soon if you’re interested. We will have three additional camps on no-school days on Jan 15, Feb 5, and Apr 16, 2018.
  • AutoPay – We have our automatic payments set up and running for credit and debit cards. If you pay monthly, we encourage you to take advantage of this easy payment method. You can set up your credit card information in the MPK portal, and we just need a signed authorization to get it started (we are not yet able to ACH payments, but that will be coming).

See you in class!

Super Sunday Change (Now 9/17)

Posted on September 15, 2017

We recently put out a notice for a Super Sunday Black Belt training session on the 23rd. Our apologies… due to a scheduling conflict, we will not be having class that night.

It’s short notice, but we will be running a Super Sunday class this weekend instead – Sunday, Sept. 17, from 5-6:30 pm for any of you who can make it.

A Couple Updates…

Posted on September 13, 2017

Here is a quick update on some dates to keep in mind:

  • Super Sunday, September 24 (from 5-6:30 pm) — for Black Belts and Black Belt Candidates of all ages.
  • Promotion Test on Saturday, October 21 — for students testing for Gold Stripe through Brown Stripe who have met their class and stripe requirements. If you need to earn some stripes, be sure to sign up for a Saturday morning test slot on the blackboard.

Also, for those of you looking for the forms videos on our website, the videos are back up and running. We have Pal-Gwe 1-6 available.

Thanks, see you soon in class!
