Here is an invitation to an awesome training camp being held on December 30 at MPK Deforest.

It’s a one day camp for ages 8 and up. We will work on two weapons, the Bo and the Nunchaku, as well as spend about an hour and a half on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

We will serve snacks and lunch. MPK will provide the weapons and training.

Cost $75 for the day of training and lunch. ($10 discount for second family member)

We hope you are all enjoying the fall weather and getting ready for cooler days. Classes have been very busy and exciting with a great mix of new and current students making their toward testing.

As many of you have already gotten striped, here is a brief description of what we are doing and why. All students will earn 5 colored stripes. Each stripe represents part of the information they need to graduate to their next belt.

You may start earning stripes as a Little Kicker as soon as you have earned your black stripe belt.

As a Junior-Adult student you may earn stripes as soon as 25 classes. You may ask to be tested for your stripe as long as you feel you know your information. It’s sort of a mini test. Instructors may also ask a student to test if they feel they are prepared to do so. You may sign up for stripe testing on Saturday Mornings. You may test for 1 or 2 sections of your requirements depending on your rank and how many students are signed up that day.

Advanced students will have more information to cover. Once you have all your 5 stripes you are then eligible for promoting to your next belt at the next scheduled test.

Also, we are going to be updating our method payment processing in the near future. If you are currently part of automated payments via your credit card, please stop at the counter to arrange for payment with check or cash until the transition to the new our new system is complete. Thank you!

We will be offering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu beginning this fall. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an exciting art which teaches students the art of grappling and working from the ground.

We will be hosting a seminar on Sunday, August 25, from 5-7 pm to get things started. Seminar cost is $20 and will introduce you to what our BJJ curriculum will be like.

Ages for this system are 13 and up with instructor approval.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 pm.

Cost for MPK students is $80 for a 4-month session. Sign up at the front desk if you plan to attend.
