We are beginning a new rotation of Leadership Team this week and next. Junior Leadership members will work on nunchaku and the adults will work on escrima sticks. This is a 4-month rotation and is $65 per member (discounts available when you enroll 2 or 3 students).

Relay for Life fundraising is in full swing at MPK. We will be holding an “MPK Kick-a-thon” at the July 28 Relay for Life event in DeForest.

We have your board kit at the studio for $3. The kit includes: your board, envelope, and a script of what to say when seeking donations. Our goal for the studio is to have 100 students to raise $100. That’s a BIG goal, but there’s no doubt it’s a worthy one.

Stop in, pick up your kit, and get started today. The Relay is on July 28 and we are going to do a demo followed by the kick-a-thon. The karate demo is at 7:30 pm. It’s going to be a fun and exciting event!

HERE IS THE SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 4th…

• Mon., July 2 — normal classes + practicing for parade!
• Tue., July 3 — MORNING: reg. class + parade practice
• Tue., July 3 — EVENING: regular class
• Wed., July 4 — Fourth of July Parade (see below)
• Thu., July 5 — NO CLASSES (morning or evening)
• Sat., July 7 — NO CLASSES

NEW: The parade will BEGIN at the High School parking lot.

* * UPDATE: Due to the potential for REALLY HOT weather on July 4, we will NOT have any Little Kickers in the parade. * *

The parade will begin at 10:00 am. A “rain delay” time is Noon. The parade will begin on Halsor heading north and will then turn left (west) onto Holum, ending on the corner of Main Street and Holum.

Please arrive at the parade line-up no later than 9:00 am.

In order to avoid the runners/walkers for the Freedom Run and avoid lineup congestion, please use the following route to join the parade line-up:

• • From Hwy 51 take Holum St. go one block and left onto S. Burns St. You will run straight into the High School parking lot.
• • From Vinburn Rd take Southbound Dr. to Yorktown Rd.
• • Please note that Jefferson St. will be closed due to the run and should be finished around 9:15

Our morning classes for Little Kickers and Juniors are set to begin. Starting June 12 we have morning classes beginning at 9:00 am:

9:00 – 9:30 am — Little Kickers (ages 4-7)
9:00 – 9:45 am — Juniors (ages 8-13)

It’s testing time! Time to show off all of the hard work from the past few months. If you are not testing please plan on attending as this will be a great workout and a lot of high energy fun. White belts will attend the Intermediate time slots.

Here is the testing schedule…

TEST TIMES:
5:30-6:15 Intermediate Students, Jr, and up.
6:15-7:30 Advanced Students, Jr, and up.

TEST NIGHTS: Monday, June 4; Wednesday, June 6; Thursday, June 7.

MAKEUP NIGHTS: Tuesday, June 5; and Saturday, June 9. No leadership Team for the next two weeks.

TEST NIGHTS: Monday, June 11; and Wednesday, June 13.

BELT GRADUATION: Thursday, June 14, from 5:30 – 7:30.

Please be early for your test. Come prepared to spar if you are Blue Belt or higher.

If you need to attend on a make up night please let us know in advance.
All student may wear MPK t-shirts on all nights except the June 14th graduation night.

Join us for “Ninja Night” at MPK from 6-9pm on Friday, June 1. Movie, pizza and games highlight this fun fundraiser. Cost is $20 for the first person, $15 for each additional person in your group with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
