Memberships Update

Posted on March 20, 2020

I hope this post finds you all in good spirits and enjoying your family time! I am reaching out to let everyone know what our plan is here at the studio.

As of Saturday morning we will be putting all memberships on hold until May 1. We understand that this unfortunate public health situation may go on for longer than that. As we get through April we will again reassess the current situation and make a decision at that time.

I am adding additional curriculum to our MPK Studio App Library. I currently have added some awesome age-specific workouts. I will also be adding more curriculum for your specific belt rank so there will be a wide variety of information you can use to get a great, at home workout!

I know this is a very stressful time for all our families. Getting in a workout is a terrific way to break up the day and get some blood pumping. Moms and dads please feel free to jump in and create some friendly family challenges!
If you get some great energy going, please feel free to share on our Facebook Page

One last thing: if anyone needs help with anything, please let us know. We have an awesome community who would be glad to assist in any way we can.

Be safe and we hope to see you all soon!

Closed… (for now)

Posted on March 15, 2020

I have made a very difficult decision to close our MPK Deforest Studio for at least the next week. I have made this decision with the guidance of health professionals with the best interests of our members and staff in mind. Tomorrow our staff will meet and start putting together some awesome at home training plans for our families.

We will continue to monitor advice from our incredible health officials and local authorities to let you know when we can get back to training here at the studio. Thank you and be well!

Sincerly, Mr. Armstrong

MPK Status Update

Posted on March 13, 2020

Hello MPK Families… just a quick note regarding our schedule as it relates to current events.

We plan to be open for business. We will assess as time goes on and keep our members informed regarding our schedule. Our number one concern is always the health and well being of all our members and will make decisions based on that criteria.

Below is a link to a letter from the Deforest Area School District which offers guidelines for dealing with this event.

While we love seeing all of our students, please do not attend if you are not feeling well. Be sure you are washing your hands regularly and doing your part in keeping our studio as clean as possible. We are cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces as we always do.

Best regards,

Mr. Armstrong, Midwest Professional Karate

Ninja Night! Sat 2/29

Posted on February 20, 2020

We are happy to announce our next Ninja Night (aka, Parents’ Night Out) on Saturday, February 29. Drop off the kids for a few hours of fun and games! MPK will serve pizza and a juice box, so dinner is handled. This is a great way to share MPK with a friend — make it a bring a buddy night, too!

This time, students will be split into two groups based on age:

  • Little Kickers (ages 4-7) will have their Ninja Night from 3-5 pm.
  • Juniors (ages 8 and up) will have their Ninja Night from 6-9 pm.

You can find Ninja Night in the MPK app under the Events section, or:

The first student is $20 and each additional student is $15, so bring a friend! Please let us know if you have any problems signing up, we’d be happy to help.

Save a spot now! We expect to fill up…

And lastly, congratulations to everyone who successfully tested earlier this week!

Open for Belt Testing, Yoga Tonight 2/17

Posted on February 17, 2020

We ARE open tonight! We have belt testing beginning at 5:30pm for our gold, orange and green belt students. Please arrive 10 minutes early to prepare for the test. We expect the test to last 45-60 minutes.

Yoga is also happening this evening at 6pm!

Belt Testing Week of Feb 17

Posted on February 13, 2020

Just a reminder that we have belt testing at 5:30 pm on Monday the 17th and Wednesday the 19th. We’ll still have Little Kicker class at 5:00 and yoga as scheduled. There will be no karate classes after 5:30 on those days.

  • Students who have all of their colored stripes and required classes will receive a test permission slip.
  • Intermediate students will test on Monday (students who are currently gold, orange, and green belts).
  • Advanced students will test on Wednesday (students who are currently purple, blue, red, and brown belts).

The test will begin promptly after the Little Kicker class, so please plan to arrive 15 minutes early.

Students who are currently blue belt and up will need to bring their sparring gear. We also recommend that they come to sparring class on Tuesday to get in some practice before the test.
