Uniform Stitching

Posted on September 22, 2018

Hey MPK Families, 2e’ll be sending a batch of uniforms out for stitching this week, so if any of you have a red and black or white and black team uniform that still needs the chest stitching on the top, please drop it at the studio by Wednesday evening. Please also make sure uniforms are labeled with the student’s name so we get them all back to the right people.

If your student doesn’t have another top while this one is out, they can wear their karate t-shirts to class until we get these back.

Thanks,
Jeni Risgaard, Front Desk Coordinator

Please check for shoes…

Posted on September 18, 2018

If you or your kids were in class Monday night (9/17), can you please check if someone accidentally grabbed the wrong shoes on the way out? We’re missing a pair of pink flip flops with silver accents in size 2.

With all the activity in the studio with school starting, it’s a good time to remind everyone to check shoes carefully — a lot of them look very similar and can be mistaken if you don’t look closely.

If you do find the missing flip flops, please drop them off at the desk and we’ll get them back to the right person.

Thanks everyone!

No Class on Saturday (Labor Day Weekend)

Posted on August 31, 2018

I hope this email finds you all making fun plans for the Labor Day weekend. The studio has been very busy this week with families getting ready for the start of the school year. We will not be open this Saturday September 1. Enjoy the weekend!

A few programming notes for upcoming classes:

Beginning Wednesday students should be back into full uniforms. Please remember to wear white-with-white and black-with-black tops and bottoms. If you need a new uniform the super awesome front desk staff can help set you up.

Our A+ After School Program will be back into full swing beginning Tuesday the 4th! Plan on students just getting used to the program for the first week. We will start wearing uniforms by Thursday of Friday. If you need to drop off snacks or uniforms you may do so as of Tuesday.

Leadership and Weapons classes. We will be ordering our bo’s this weekend for the upcoming INTRO to BO Seminar on the 8th of September. You will need a bo to participate. Please let us know if you need to order one. The seminar will be from 9-9:45 Saturday morning the 8th.

The Leadership Weapons class is a 3 month rotation and cost $60 for the 3 months. We meet every Tuesday at 5 and every Saturday morning at 9. You can sign up on the MPK Deforest app by downloading it from the Android Market or the Apple Store:

Women’s Self-Defense Seminar

Posted on July 24, 2018

We will be conducting a women’s self defense seminar this Sunday, July 29, beginning at 6:30 pm.

This is a great opportunity for women and girls age 14 and up to learn some practical skills for defending themselves along with behaviors and strategies to help avoid becoming a target. This is great for anyone heading to high school or college, as well as adults who just want to gain practical skills and confidence.

There is no fee for the seminar, but instead we will be accepting donations to support Blessings in a Backpack. If you or any friends or family would like to attend, please respond by Friday so we can get an accurate headcount.

Thanks — we hope to see you there!

Memorial Day Weekend Notes

Posted on May 24, 2018

For Memorial Day weekend we have some adjustments to the normal schedule:

  • Saturday, 5/26 — No weapons class or regular karate class. Instead, we’ll have an Open Gym from 9-10:30 am. For those of you who haven’t been to an Open Gym session, it’s a time for students age 8 and older to come and work independently on their curriculum. There will be Black Belts available to help students with skills but no structured lesson. For students who plan to test on June 16, this is a great time to fine tune the skills on your card. Total Fitness Training will be at the normal 8:00 time.
  • Sunday, 5/27 — Closed.
  • Monday, 5/28 — Closed.
  • Tuesday, 5/29 — We will back to our regular schedule on Tuesday, May 29.

Thanks everyone!
